Kathie Stewart
Assistant Director

Janet See and Kathie Stewart look forward to welcoming students to a week rich in chamber music, classes focused on tone production and technique, master classes, and invaluable insights into interpreting our 18th century repertoire.
Always a highlight of the week, students will be joined by some of the country's finest professional musicians in Early Music who will be coaching and playing in student ensembles. This summer we are delighted to welcome flutist Amy Guitry to the flute faculty. Completing the faculty roster will be Jonathan Oddie, Jillon Stoppels Dupree, and Margaret Gries on harpsichord, and Nathan Whittaker and Lee Inman on cello and gamba.
The workshop takes place on the beautiful campus of Seattle Pacific University. Nearby are the colorful Fremont and Queen Anne districts of Seattle, both of which abound in restaurants and coffee shops. Evening activities, informal music making, sharing meals, and walks along the Lake Washington ship canal all contribute to the richness of the week.
Housing will be in Arnett Dorm in single occupancy rooms with either a private or shared bath. There are large kitchens and lounges on each floor for preparing meals and eating together.
Requirements for attending
A solid foundation in tone production, and a thorough and reliable knowledge of baroque flute fingerings. The workshop pitch will be A=415 Hz.
"The workshop is a very unique, special experience that enables all participants to become part of a very friendly and supportive community."
"The coaches were excellent. They offered incredible support and insight... What a privilege and joy."
"The workshop was a potent reminder of what is really important to me — music and community. It's not just music, it's overall renewal."
